July 18, 2022 – It’s time for an update on movetocaledon.com:
So, the Peel District School Board has modified it’s own website since the original publication date of this article. Some of the links here, were broken and unusable. So, I’ve changed them out, and hopefully the changes on the school board website are more helpful than their previous versions.
To that end, here’s another way to search for Caledon schools, but by the “type of school” that your child needs: Peel Schools Directory
Here’s the School Directory for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board:
Alton Public School
I’ve mentioned this school, very specifically, because of it’s importance, not just within the Caledon area, but within the whole country! This is one of Canada’s last remaining, and operational ORIGINAL school houses. This school house was built in 1873, and construction spilled into 1874, when it was completed. An addition was built in 1908 (heck, just the addition is over a hundred years old).
Alton Public School is located in the most North Westerly part of the school board, and right in the picturesque town of Alton, Ontario. At the time of writing, there is approximately 140 students attending the school. The school serves children from kindergarten through to grade six. Moving onto grades seven and eight, the children will go to Caledon Central Public School.
